That's completely uncalled for and unacceptable, Jon.

(Blast away at Shaun all you want, but NEVER backpedal!!!)

Should be added to the FAQ.

While riding? I have a friend who used to do pushups in the flat areas while we were biking. Yes, I
mean pushups on his bike, while riding. Yes, I know I have strange friends.

For chest & stomach, IMO you can't beat kayaking. Whitewater will probably work faster than
flatwater, but has a higher penalty for FUs. If you continue to ride you will also avoid the problem
a lot of kayakers have of looking really attractive until you get out of your boat and we see your
spindly little legs.

Yoga's great too...a couple of Chaturanga Dandasanas a day would fix ya right up.

Lots of technical trails that require me to be out of the seat, but not standing. Really works the
upper body as I shift my weight (or, maybe I'm doing it wrong which is why I'm getting the great
upper body workout
).

(Line from a "Seinfeld" episode when George ends up in an Anger Management group.)

Right, then, off you go.

I don't know if you were talking to pinhead, dipstick, or even if pinhead was listening - _I_ sure
as hell replied though.

Although what you say makes total sense, its always amazed me how tired my upper body is after
technical rides.

Because evolution moves FORWARD, Shaun, not backward.

I mean, it would be neat to play "caveman" for a bit, too, but I wouldn't want to BE one.

HTH explain it, Bill

You're getting evolution and devolution mixed up.

Cycling of any kind is not much of an upper-body workout no matter how hard you try. But, I've
managed to build good tricep and latissimus strength on very hard uphills where you need to pull on
the handlebars, and riding through long stretches of thick stuff like sand and mud. You really need
to lift weights and do core crunches to build your upper body. If that's not an option, try
loading/unloading your bike 50 times at the beginning and end of each ride.

What do you mean, "seriously"? Do you ride with a frown?

You haven't been mountain biking then.

Ride rough trails up and down on a rigid singlespeed.
