(OT) OE w/Quote-fix question
12-30.-2003
| | | (OT) OE w/Quote-fix question OK, here's a strange one. I've noticed that my spell-checker doesn't work (automatically at least)
on *replies* to posts since installing Quote-fix, UNLESS I set it to include original text (which
means checking what others wrote, as well as headers, names, etc.). PITA.
I'm guessing it's because the cursor is now below the text (where it belongs), and OE doesn't
recognize that as new content?

Yep, OE must assume (as it all too often does) that anything *below* quoted text is part of the
quote. Those top posting bastids!
The workaround is to highlight your reply and hit "check spelling" before sending. |

I have my OE/Quotefix settings so that my sig is at the bottom, where it belongs and my cursor is at
the top where I think it belongs. While I scroll down I can snip text or intersperse my comments
until I reach the bottom and hit send. Being from Sweden I have the spellchecker turned off anyway,
since it's such a hazzle switching between languages. Besides it never detects mistakes like your or
you're and to or too. I'm a lot more suceptible to those than pure spelling mistakes.

now you know what one of my problems has been...

| | | Re: (OT) Another OE w/Quote-fix question Has anybody else had problems with the amount of downloaded files when using Quotefix. I'll try to
explain what I mean When I start up my newsreader from the Quotefix Icon I will highlight my
Newsserver and press the Synchronize button. In my case I subscribe to 15 newsgroups and they all
get synchronized. Some are set to download all messages, some are set to download all headers etc. I
have a DSL connection so it never takes very long. Now I'll have maybe 24 new (highlighted) messages
in one newsgroup. When I mark this newsgroup I go to Tools / Get next 1000 headers. Now maybe
another 5 or 20 or whatever new headers plop down. I can often repeat this several times until I end
up with whatever it is supposed to be. Maybe 60-70 for this group. Bigger groups like wreck dot tech
will take significantly more pushes on the "Get next 1000 headers" button. I'm not 100% sure it's a
Quotefix problem, but I cannot recall having this bug before using Quotefix.

OK, now I set cursor back at top like Perre suggested (not THAT big a deal), so let's see if it spell-
checks my "relpy" now (changed that setting back to ignore original text).

Just goes to show you can't trust anyone on usenet. Why don't you move to Sweden for a while? We
