Default First Day on a Downhill Bike

I just rode a downhill bike at Bootleg Canyon for the first time. I rented a KHS Dominatrix down the
street. What a blast. I did 6 runs on Snakeback. The first run I tripoded all of the obstacles
terrified thinking this is not for me. The second and third run I learned how to position myself
over the bike. Fourth and Fifth I gained a little confidence and by number 6 I had ridden the whole
trail without stepping down. Next trail is Armageddon!!

I have been riding mountain bikes since 1988. This was the most fun I have ever had on a mountain
bike. I got 5k burning a hole in my bank account looking for the top of the line bike.

Downhilling is certainly a blast, you're hooked now. If you're looking for a pure DH bike, have a
look at what's available from:

Bwhahahaha... you're toast bro! Went thru the exact same experience (but at Big Bear) a couple/few
years ago. $4200 later ( http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sla...?.dir=/Turner-
+Project&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/slacker7@sbcglobal.net/my_-
photos ) and I still have more to buy in order to complete it.

BTW, I just posted a question about Bootleg on MtbR, did you guys hire a shuttle service? Do you
have any more info about the place... I'm thinking about going there Friday.

That's not bicycling, it's coasting on an engineless motorcycle.

I went downhilling for the first time three years ago and fell in love with it instantly. I had been
riding X-country for about ten years and needed something to breeth new life into the sport. Since
I'm on a tight bugdet I bought a Kona Stinky D with a SuperT mounted up front. Cost was about $2700.
It's not a full on downhill rig but it seems to do just fine and with some fine tuning of the parts
spec it could be a heavy duty trail rig. Good Luck
