Prom dress too big :o(
Sunday is my 29th birthday, and I'm going to karaoke, and I was going to
get way overdressed and wear my prom dress and a tiara. It's a beautiful
vintage dress, with a flesh colored lining with black netting over it, with
a criss-cross pattern of black ribbons all over it . . . actually, here's
my senior prom picture with me and my then best friend (yes, we were both
dateless losers)

http://www.mindspring.com/~lunachick/prom.jpg

Well, the dress is too big now, by at least one size, maybe two. The
bodice is supposed to be tight, and well, it isn't anymore. It's cool that
I'm smaller than I was in high school, but now I have to give away that
dress, and I'm a little bummed.

Dude! Take it to a bridal shop and get it taken in! That dress is worth
keeping! Won't cost ya more than say 25-30 bucks I figure.

Get the dress altered.

BTW: Did the boys in your high school suffer from astigmatism? You were a
hottie. (Not saying you're not now, just saw the one pic)

Say huh? Actually, I didn't know many people at my high school. I went to
a performing arts magnet program within a high school, and the PA kids
pretty much kept to ourselves. We didn't really have time to socialize
with the kids who weren't in performing arts. There weren't many students
in the program, maybe 300 in grades 8 - 12. All the senior guys were
either gay or had girlfriends, so I went with my best friend from my old
school.

I was only at that school for the last two years of high school, and by
then everyone was coupled off already. Yes, you're right, I did have a
choice, in a way. I could have chosen to attempt to break up one of the
already established couples. I really liked Tony, who was dating Rebecca,
and I could have ignored the fact that she was a really nice person and
Tony didn't seem interested in me as more than a friend. I could have made
up stories that Rebecca was cheating on him, or I could have threatened
Tony with bodily harm unless he broke up with her and started dating me, or
maybe there were other options. The same scenario could apply to any of
the other guys in relationships. I could also have chosen to try to
convert one of the gay guys. If there had been one single, straight,
available guy in the senior class, I would have asked him to prom. I'm not
shy. I was not upset about not having a date, many of the girls didn't have
dates.

I could have gone with the group of gay guys, but I didn't have the money
for my share of the limo. They all showed up together in drag, it was

Heheh. For my junior prom, I did go with a guy from my old school. He
even had a girlfriend at the time, but he went with me anyway. Then he
graduated and moved away. I didn't have much time for socializing once I
started at the performing arts school, since after school I was in
rehearsals, and I didn't have a car so I couldn't go to any of the
post-rehearsal gatherings unless I could get a ride. I did that for a
while, one girl lived near me, so she'd give me rides. But after the
second time she "forgot" me and stranded me, I stopped doing that. I
didn't make one friend at that school, partly because I started in 11th
grade and they'd all been there since 8th, partly because I didn't have a
car, partly because the program was very competitive and it's hard for
teenagers to be friends with someone they're up against for a role, and
partly because I didn't really fit in for various reasons (fat, poor, not a
dancer or singer) I remember one time, the group I ate lunch with was
making plans to go to a Braves game together. I said "It's funny, I grew
up in Atlanta and I've never been to a Braves game." And one girl said "Oh,
you should go with your friends some time." And I kept quiet but I was
thinking "I thought you guys _were_ my friends, but I guess not." It
wasn't that important. I wanted to go that school to learn about theater,
and I learned a lot, and it was worth it.

For some thoroughly feminized defintions of "chunk". As a thoroughly married

I shall regret that pictures of current you in that dress will not appear
on your website. But I just hang out here for the pictures of pretty girls.

Though you'll now have the sense to discount the obvious droolings of a
dirty old man, you've done incredibly well.
