8. Physical conditioning

Bush runs, swims and lifts weights on a regular basis. The
president continues forward with an impressive health
regimen, making him one of the most physically fit
presidents ever. His cholesterol levels and resting heart
are rate low, making him more capable of handling stressful
situations.

This makes him look great up against some of the more hefty
in Congress, who run, but only to the bathroom, and do 20
reps a day on a vodka tonic. Those with pants that are tailor-
made from old Army bivouac tents look bad in comparison. If
you stand outside the Senate office building and watch two
lawmakers try to split a cab, occasionally, you'll see them
do exactly that. As for the Massachusetts senator and
presidential wannabe, in a foot race, I'd take Bush over
Kerry's "jogging porter" any day.

Bush's athletic pursuits are indeed impressive for someone
who has the toughest job in the world. Unfortunately, he
comes up way short when you evaluate him from the neck up.
That's evaluating him as a president. As an average person,
I'm sure he's very smart, but in terms of presidents in my
lifetime, he comes up way short.

What we have in the US and the world now is what happens
when you hire a C student to do an A student's job. Federal
Budget statistics from this week's Barrons (billion $).

Just the facts. I can think of no better reason to NOT do

You forgot to mention the fact his IQ is 90, and his
judgement is even worse. Healthy body means nothing when you

I don't know how old you are but from Nixon on, and
just talking basic intelligence as opposed to specific
policies, I think he's definitely behind Clinton and
Nixon, probably behind Carter and his dad, and ahead of
Reagan and Ford. Based on his policies, well, let's
just say I'll be voting elsewhere.

I don't think the economy or the lives of our people in
uniform or those riding a bus can afford four more Rambo
years. Let's see if he has the balls to enter the monthly
debate. If I was Bush I'd stay away from an open debate. I
don't think he can think fast enough on his feet in an open
forum. Without a prepared questions and answers his butt
would get fried.

He reminds me of Gabby Hayes in the old Hopalong Cassidy,
Poncho in the Cisco Kid or Curley in the three Stooges.

Yeah, Phil- I'm with you. I'll take Bush over John F'in
Kerry any day. Ever notice how the libs spend more time
talking down the intelligence of conservatives than they do
discussing the actual issues. Quayle, GW, Reagan, Ford, etc.
If Clinton's so smart, why'd he do such stupid, self-
destructive things? He's not smart, he's just slick- like
any con man.

GW had better grades in school than Gore, but no one here
wants to mention that. And yeah- Bush sucks at public
debates. He's not a quick-on-his-feet thinker. But he's a
man of convictions. And I (and much of America) happen to
agree with most of them. Really, it's hard to understand
liberal animosity against Bush- he's much more "big gov't
spender" than any other Republican prez in recent memory...

All that having been said, the bushorchimp.com site is
freakin' funny. But that's the diff. between most
conservatives and most libs- we don't take ourselves too
seriously. We take the issues very seriously, but not
ourselves.

But

The problem with Bush is that we now have the most fiscally
irresponsible president the US has ever experienced. Deficit
spending is the highest it has ever been, period. This can
only lead to the downgrading of way of life in general. If
you look at the broader macro economic view of our
situation, we are consuming more than we produce. That
philosophy can not last forever (without going into the
economics of why spending more than you make is disaster, I
think I can safely leave this argument as simply, "common
sense"). Economists have countered that information
technology has been the offset to our diminishing
industrial/manufacturing economy. It is true, in the new
economy (industrial to information) we have enjoyed the
until recently tangible benefit of being the leaders in
technical innovation. This has enabled us to complete
economically via jobs in areas such as software, chip
manufacturing (Intel) and to a lesser extent the financial
sector (i.e. Wall Street).

The sad and scary truth is that these jobs are leaving the
country and being filled in places like India, China, and
even Russia. The corporate policy of outsourcing our jobs is
eventually going to undermine our comfortable advantage in
the world. We are currently replacing our high tech jobs
with fast food and Wal-Mart positions and citing a lower
employment rate as a victory. There is even a working plan
in the Bush economic team to reclassify fast food workers as
factory positions instead of food service positions. This
would improve the the manufacturing employment statistics
instantly, problem solved right?

This president is breaking all the rules of what it means to
be a Republican and a conservative. He has not figured out
how to preserve our wealth, win a war, or secure our future
position in the world. What he has figured out how to do is
hand over BILLONS of dollars to copanies like Haliburton in
no compete Iraq rebuilding contracts. Please understand the
money GIVEN to them is not comming back here to benift the
american people in any signifcant way, Haliburton is giving
this money to forigen contractors and reaping a handsome
profit for the board of directors (and maybe even past
CEO's). Not even the trickle down theory can work in this
environment.

*******MOST IMPORTANT STUFF RIGHT HERE******* What the
republican population does not realize is we are not in the
Bush plan (yes, even us republicans). We are simply not big
enough corporate players to be considered. We are mere
tools. When he does give us a token tax break, he then rips
it back from us by not fostering enconomic climent that will
keep our jobs. Really, I am for the conservative approach to
government; lower corporate taxes to increase profits and
encourage forigen investment which in turn creates jobs
and/or increases salaries. However, I STRONGLY believe that
you must tie these corporate incentives back into jobs for
Americans. *******END OF MOST IMPORTANT STUFF*******

Lastly, when his dad went to war with Iraq he was able to
sucure a mandate from the majority of the world. While we
did not need there physical support (troops and weapons) we
desperatly needed their monetary support. Japan supplied
approximatly 75% of the cost of the war burden during Gulf
War I, but not a single troop. We know what happened this
time, no money, the "coalition of the willing" was largly
just lip service with no real substance (I know, I know;
England really was quite a bit of help).

My problem is that I am a republican and I want a REAL
republican running this country. Not this lying
embarrassment to the ideals of the conservative party.

Later, Rick

I'm affiliated with no party and I also want a president
that at least strives for honesty. Takes me back Eisenhower
who was a great general but came up way short with politics
and some say brains. He at least surrounded himself with
brighter people to held guide the country. One can always
debate whether he was successful or not. Bush has a cabinet
and staff of spineless yes people. Hopefully they will be
voted out this year and they can all get acting jobs as bent
noses on the Soprano's. With four years of acting they will
be a natural for the show.

With the current administration, with the exception of Colin
Powell( he has some handcuffs and can't or won't say what he
would like), there isn't a one I trust to speak the truth.
The policy is to lie and then everyone swear it's true. I
think the people are wising up. How many times can he point
to the "other" guy for bad information.

Obviously it is not a legitimate campaign issue, but there is no reason
there should not be honesty in the analysis. Kerry is hardly the depiction
of the stereotypical Congressman represented above--perhaps the senior
senator from Mass. does? As for Kerry, he played hockey, lacrosse, and
soccer at Yale and is still very athletic. For more info see the feature on
Kerry in a recent issue of SI:

Gee, you must mean "self destructive things" like getting

57% of america says he must go, and his approval ratings

It was funny 4 years ago, but nobodys laughing anymore. Say
bye bye, you've only got a few months left to spout your

You need to be self-aware to take yourself seriously, and
nobody who could defend Bush after he's destroyed our
economy, our good standing in the world, and lies at every
turn, could be intelligent enough to be self-aware.

Isn't it great that the President of the United States of
America has all of this free time? It's not like we're in
the middle of a war or anything like that. I support
running, but....think about it...... Hitler could have ran
and you would have supported him (there's actually a thin
line between the two guys). I could go on for a long time
like this, but i'm too tired to be anti-conservative right
now. Just look at the world around you.

ugh

ah yes, the endorphins sedate him so he's more likely to

What a good man. "But I also made it claer to [Vladimir
Putin] that it's important to think beyond the old days of
when we had the concept that if we blew each other up, the
world would be safe." Ah yes, speaking from the heart.
"Actually, I-this may sound a little West Texan to you, but
I like it. When I'm talking about-when I'm talking about
myself, and when he's talking about myself, all of us are
talking about me.".....very good in stressful
situations.......
