Holy crap! I was thinking he could do it when I saw he was only a dozen seconds down yesterday, but I thought for sure when I saw the title of your post that this was really an April fools joke.

The guy deserves this - a lot. I hope he wins a classic and gets a job doing something other than working for Pants Armstrong.

Bravo to George! This will increase the value of his
autographed photo on my bike room wall.

A question--How many riders have won de Panne and gone on to
win the Ronde the same year. I can't access the de Panne
statistics.

Got the information. The only rider to do it was Van
Petegem in 1999.

Hey, how about he keeps his July gig, and puts a few on the
mantle for himself? Happy with that? (just curious) --TP

I believe George was quoted in an interview earlier this year that he needed to get a big win or else he was just going to resign himself to carrying bottles for Pants. He also said (IIRC) that if he does get a big win he might entertain offers from other teams. The man deserves a chance at personal glory - as fulfilling as it might be to be a part of all of PA's tour victories - there's no substitute for crossing the line first.

Good for ol' George. Ekimov took it a few years and a few
retirements ago.

Can't wait till Sunday, my favorite race of all...

Wouldn't it be interesting to see what Bjarne Riis could
get out of George? He seems to be someone who can bring
riders to new levels. Lets hope that's not just new
hematocrit levels.

I wholeheartedly celebrate George's well deserved victory, but
please explain the "Pants" Armstrong description to me.

Thanks,
Tony A.

Thanks,

Lance lance fancy pants has ants in his underpants.

A friend of mine calls Lance PANTS. I thought it was funny and I think the whole world should start calling him that. It's appropriate, really. He wears the pants on the team, he is kinda fancy pants, and he's all normal like he puts on his pants one leg at a time just like you and me.

Pants. Armstrong. Pants Armstrong.

Works for me.

There's why.

P.S. Sundquist, quit napping, you're supposed to be
posting this.

I became unnerved that Chung has been stalking me by
counting how many times I had posted the link.

"Pants" is British slang for something not very good.

Is that a track world's program in your pants, LANCE, or are
you just happy to see HEINIE?

Responding to the origin of this thread - only r.b.r could
get excited about GH winning a second-rate mid-week Belgain
stage race without crossing a single finish line first, and
translate that into winning arguably the best one-day race
in the world. Held on a Sunday, it is.

I declare: If GH wins Flanders on Sunday, I WILL NEVER POST
ANOTHER WORD TO R.B.R.

-RJ, not really taking any chances here.

noooo, don't say stuff like that, even if you think it's
risk free.

It's risk free.

There's a big difference between hanging on the stages, and
being the best of those who can on the ITT, and actually
winning a 1-day race. Hincapie is certainly a top-notch
rider for what he does, but what he does isn't end-game.
