Last year I was on Saddleworth Moor about 25 miles from home
and the heavens opened. I couldn't really see as I
descended. My rain jacket was so old that the lining sort of
disolved leaving little sticky gummy balls all over me !
Today was the first time the new one, bought last July, has
had a good test. It performed admirably. It is a non-cycling
specific Peter Storm (£35). Normally I don't mind the rain
too much, got used to it but there was a cold wind with it
today which made for very hard work. With it being Saturday
every traffic light was on red too. Thankfully Mrs MSeries
administered tea and sympathy instead of a roasting for
dripping all over the floor.

It's changed now to a bit milder weather, but rain is
forecast all week long.
http://uk.weather.com/weather/local/UKXX0226 . I'd take the
Carlisle to Leeds train via Settle instead (very scenic
route) if I was you mate :-)

I am taking the train to Carlisle and riding back staying
Sunday night at Dentdale YHA. Get to ride over Shap again
then past Ribblehead Viaduct. Later in the year, maybe one
of the May Bank Holidays, I'll do it in one go.
