Garmin Forerunner 201: auto-split beeping
View Full Version : Garmin Forerunner 201: auto-split beeping
My wife just got one of these neat gadgets and is very
pleased with it except for one annoying feature. She likes
to have the watch auto-split at each mile, but on the very
first mile split, the thing beeps incessantly; she must
hit the "Enter" button to make it stop. Every mile after
that, it beeps once and that's it. A couple of friends of
ours also have the Forerunner 201, with the latest
firmware (3.20) and say they don't have this problem.
Other than turning beeping off altogether--which,
presumably, would also turn it off for other functions--is
there a way to fix this?

You need to have it set for auto-lap. Sounds like you have
it set for something else. Maybe it is set to end the
workout at 1 mile instead of auto-lap.

Hmm. When I look at the Auto Pause/Lap screen, I see the
following: Auto timer pause: OFF Pause when: 20:00 /mi
----------------------------
Auto Lap Trigger: ON Lap Distance: 1.00mi

Check the "SET TIME & PACE" and the "SET DISTANCE &
PACE" and the "INTERVAL TRAINING" settings. They should
all be zeros.

Make sure she has sattelite lock before she starts the
run. Sometimes it helps to be running when she hits the
start button.
If it persists she may need to do a soft reboot (described
in the manual), worst case try a hard reset, but she will
lose all stored data.
