2 days to go to my 50K

Tim Downie

Well, I'm just two days from my 50K Speyside Way race. As
some of you may know or have noticed from my sig, I've
dedicated this run to arthritis sufferers, rheumatoid,
osteo, SLE and all other variants.

Perhaps not the most "glamorous" of disabilities to be
raising money for but don't underestimate the severe
disability, pain and suffering that rheumatoid in particular
can cause to young, middle aged and old alike.

I was inspired to raise money for arthritis research by the
plight of Teresa (Thotful560@aol.com) who was a regular
contributor to rec.running until she was hit by RA. If you
don't recall her have a look at

http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=lang_en&ie=UTF-

or http://tinyurl.com/2bt7x

where she relates a little about her condition at the time.

Anyway, just in case your newsreader strips off sigs,
here's the URLs if you feel moved to make a donation to
arthritis research

If you're in the UK, go to
http://www.justgiving.com/speyside , elsewhere, go to
http://www.justgiving.com/pfp/speyside.

They're both charities supporting research into arthritis
but UK taxpayers can increase the size of their gift (at no
cost to themselves) by using the UK site where the charity
can reclaim 28p in the pound tax.

Thanks for reading.

Yep, I just hope the weather is as good as it is here. Sunshine, a breeze,
10 degrees. Mind you 50k should be a doddle!

forgive the top posting....

best of luck, Tim, in your 50K. i can't imagine doing that
distance. the marathon alone was a major undertaking.
anyway, do that taper, carb up and hydrate well.

and way to go in supporting a good cause. have a great race!

I husband suffers from RA at the young age of 37. We both
say good luck and thanks.

Miss Anne Throp

As if talking about your little race isn't dreary enough,
I'll bet you're going to want to tell us all how it went
too, aren't you? I'll look forward to it...............like
I look forward to the flu.

All the best buddy!

Tim Downie

Thanks to all for your good wishes. However tough it may
be on the day, I'll always know that I'm lucky to be
*able* to run.

If any of you should feel moved to back up your good wishes
with a little folding stuff in aid of the cause, you know
where to go. ;-)
