View Full Version : Chain life

So farewell, then, SRAM PC68, companion of some three years
and some thousands of miles. 12 1/16" on the Rabone "chain
wear tool" so it's time to move on.

This chain was lubricated from new with White Lightning wax
lube, mainly WL Raceday for wet / winter riding. The
cassette should be OK as I have two and ring the changes.

Three years - chains on my MTB last about three months :-)

Was it the (longer than normal) chain used on your recumbent
Guy? Only way my mind can think of a reason for it's
(seemingly) long life.

Or it could partly be due to the WL but how much does that
stuff cost again?

No, the tourer. This is normal for a chain for me - I expect
a year of daily use, between 4,000 and 5,000 miles out of a
SRAM PC68. The tourer has been the backup bike for most of
the last 2 1/2 years.
