A phrase involving blue bricks comes to mind...

Hi Carol

True story: I never used to be susceptible (sp?) to vertigo
until I watched The Matrix on telly some time ago. (Early
scene with the mobile phone during the failed escape from
the office.) These days, whenever I see a TV view looking
down from a skyscraper I get a wobbly feeling in my stomach.

I've yet to test myself IRL.

Helen's pic didn't worry me too much, FWIW.

<snip>

Not sure if it's real vertigo, but I've always hated
heights as far back as I can remember - to the extent that
when I rode my upright I used to walk down really steep
hills for fear of tipping over the bars. Another reason to
love my trike :-)

Last autumn we went to Provence for a holiday (not with the
trikes, though we hope to go back with them this year,
finances permitting) and we visited a castle with two linked
gate towers. We bought our tickets, whereupon the guide lady
took us into the first tower, and explained that we'd have
to climb up to the top of this one, walk across the roof and
go down the other tower to get out again. Then she left and
locked the door. I can see why they do it that way - the
stairs are very narrow and it would be a bad idea to have
people going up and down the same set
- but crossing that roof was *not* a good experience for me.

The thing I didn't like about it was that you can't see
where the slide thingy goes to - it just seems to vanish in
mid-air. Ugh.

Bugger, I can't afford the air fare to Adobe :-)

Years of skiing, and being a really rubbish downhill
cyclist, mean that I truly have No Fear when confronted by
seriously scary downhill bike courses, but I haven't a hope
in hell of actually riding them without a wipeout.

I also have the thighs to ride back up again (subject
to my lousy breathing, cardio-vascular condition and
BMI of a hippo)
