Home from a scorcher ... 23 degrees in the shade, a blue
sky, sun baking down - our first day of warm weather this
year and we have to run a half marathon! My game plan was to
do it in about 2 hours and I did just that. But it was the
hardest race I've ever run. People were dropping like flies.
It was bloody. I ran with my sister-in-law for the first 8 k
but then she had to walk. Three of her group DNFed, and
people I'd expected to go sub
1.40 were clutching at 1.50. The only exception was my mate
the flying Suzanne who did 1.36. I'm afraid CPH just won't
be big enough for her. I caught up with 72 year old Egon
at 18 k and told him I appreciated his waiting for me but
he just hit me so I left him behind. Phew, what a day!
Helene (my s-i-l) finally did 2.15 which was heroic and I
just hope the experience won't put her off. We're all
going out tonight and she and I will be among the few
people with finisher's medals in our little party. Crap
medals,m BTW - Danes don't do medals. So don't be
disappointed if the CPH medal is a teeny little bit of
bollocks. I am v pleased: I ran non stop and my legs feel
fine. I now have a plan for CPH. At last.
