I am looking at geeking out on a 810 or a 625 specifically
to download the data and play with it. When I went to Polars
site I did not see any reference to the format of the data
nor to any software programs that might use, analyze or
display it. Anyone have any ideas or experience with this
type of stuff?

I am looking to cut significant time off an old marathon run
by actually training, well in a structured manner. My
previous running has always been, try and run farther and
faster. No concern for diet, sleep whatever. Not so
successfully.

In doing so I want to track my progress. Ultimately I want
to do some Traithlon's next year so I want the device to be
usable across the three disciplines.

Thanks Dave

Hey Dave, I have the Polar 610 and I have totally "geeked"
out since getting it. Polar comes with pretty good software
to save, record and analyse the hrm files. But, there are
several other 3rd party software out there. I never run
without the monitor now, because I love to look at all the
info from my run. I can really tell how I am improving, or
overtraining by looking at my average heartrate and how much
increase of my heartrate over time. The hrm file format
looks a like simple text file, that could easily be read. IF
you are pretty good with programming the data could easily
be pulled from the file.

That is exactly why I got mine. I really want to qualify for
Boston. I have yet to really start using the interval part.
But, I plan to start interval training using time and HR
zones to make sure I hit the training right. So far I have
been building a base and watching my HR to make sure I don't
overtrain on the long runs.

I really dig all the accuracy and recording of the data.
But, it might be a little over board on info for a casual
runner. However, I am having fun watching the numbers and
graphs. ;)

Thanks Rob, that is what I had hoped to hear. If you can
send along the other third party firms to my address, less
the dot spam, it would be much appreciated. Thanks again.
Best of luck with Boston!

No Problem I will post them here: I use PC Coach along with
Polar's Software (http://www.pccoach.com (http://www.pccoach.com/)) I know Crosstrak
also take the monitor (http://www.crosstrak.com (http://www.crosstrak.com/))

I am sure there are a few others. I use mainly the Polar
and PCCoach.

Hope that helps. -Rob
