Well, Mr Wobbot, my problem is simple. I'm a newsgroup
addict. I can't get enough of the damn things. Whenever I
try to leave I find myself compelled to return to this seedy
underbelly of human communication.
At first I thought I had everything under control. Yunno,
no more than 60 post per day, at least 85% of which *must*
be abusive. But things got worse. I started to think that
the people on the other end of the conversations were real!
It's true! I actually imagined that REAL people were
writing this tripe!
I fell into a spiral of despair. I tried to educate. To
inform. To communicate. Yup, you've guessed. I took things
too far. I began to think I could HELP these imaginary
souls. They say you have to hit rock bottom before you can
begin to climb the high mountain of recovery. My landing was
messy; my humiliation complete.
So, now I see how far I've fallen, pray, how do I recover?
Can you suggest a 12-step plan? How do I rehabilitate
myself? Will redemption be mine and, if so, at what cost?
worries - of which there are many. But, first things first,
make me a healthy newsgroup participant again. I know I can
get there, I just need your love to guide me...
Roger. Or Caroline. BTW, do you think this is part of
my problem?
