Cyclist stabbings in Cambridge

Tony Raven

Piece this morning on the Radio Cambridge about a cyclist
who has been riding up and stabbing people walking on
cyclepaths in the back. So far stabbed about 5 people - all
thought initially they had just been thumped on the back.
Not clear whether it has anything to do with cycling or
cyclepaths or is just a looney on a bike.

Hmm. Sounds like a psycho (path).

Sounds like dangerous lunatic who happens to be using a bike
as mode of transport. One can but hope said nasty bit of
work is apprehended soon.

Apparently this bloke has been riding around on a bike
that's too small for him and wearing a cowboy-style bandana
- but it's not exclusively people walking on cyclepaths that
have been targeted. The attacks have been on Jesus Green,
Chesterton Road and Fisher Street

If he was jumping out of a car he wouldn't be described as a
motorist - just a man no doubt. I guess the cycle makes it
easier to identify him possibly.

According to the warnings circulating the student community
in Cambridge, there is a gentleman in his late teens/early
20s using a bike too small for him to attack pedestrians in
the small hours. People alone and in one case a pair have
been targetted. The attacker does not say anything, and in
the first three attacks merely punched and the in later
ones used a knife. He apparently rides up from behind with
his arm out and cycles away, though two victims have
reported seeing him cycle past them before he attacked
them. It would seem to be "a looney on a bike". Source:
info circulated to students by the officer in charge of the
investigation on Thursday.

Looking for a cyclist in Cambridge is a bit like looking for
a student or a tourist.

The solution is obviously to arrest anyone who looks like a
student, tourist, cyclist, or thug!
