AW Cycles, 110 Henley Road, Caversham. See
www.awcycles.co.uk. Excellent range, excellent service.

Depending on how far you want to drive you could try Pedal
On in Tadley:

Rich
I will second that - Pedal On in Tadley.
Friendly and seem to know their stuff. Coffee as well.
MTB and road. Always seem well stocked.

Second the recommendation for AW Cycles - 10% discount for
CTC / RCC members. There are two Berkshire Cycles - the one
at Cemetery Junction is a bit poor, the one at Loddon Valley
Road offers very good customer service. Halfords is not
good, IMO, but I hold them in low esteem generally so this
may be biased; Freewheel is the place for Brommies and such.
Mountain High in Pangbourne are very knowledgeable about
mountain bikes.
AW is undoubtedly the place for road bikes, they are just
completing an entire sales floor for them; I rarely go
anywhere else (they are ten minutes' walk from my house, so
why would I?); they also have a good selection of mountain
bikes, hybrids and such, and are pretty sound on general
bike "stuff" like speccing commuter bikes. One or two new
staff are not quite up to speed yet, but Andy (boss), Ricky
and Sue are sent by the bicycle gods.
For repairs and wheel building at moderate cost, Bob Bristow
in Alpine Street is your man, bobbristow at waitrose dot
com, just putting a new pair of rims on my tourer wheels for
me at a foolishly low price. Favoured by the members of
Reading CTC (and you know what misers tourists are).
