Forerunner/Foretrex to Microsoft Streets

I understand that both can send data to a PC. My question is
do they continuously send data? Microsoft Streets map
program, and others for that matter, just listen for
Lat/Long input and show a dot at that location. Currently on
my way to most races: I'm steering, watching the laptop map,
watching for signs, talking on the cell, carbo-loading,
dancing around detours, and explaining to the wife that
we're not lost(wink-wink). I wouldn't mind writing an app
myself that monitored the comm-port and moved a pushpin
around on the map program. I would just like to know if
anybody has tried this before I make a $100+ guess.

I can get a route into MicroSoft Streets and Trips, but only
as a Comma Delimited File (.cvs). This also takes some prior
massaging in Excell and is not real time. Try the Yahoo
Forerunner group, below is the link. There are tons of gizmo
geeks with limited social skills who still live with their
parents in that group that can answer your question.
