Going out on a limb there? Personally, I think it's still up
in the air.

Armstrong's coach Chris Carmichael recently called Lance
"the master of psychological warfare" and his less than all-
out performance on the Ventoux , just measured out enough to
test himself but not go "au bloc"

Way too early to tell - after all, anything can happen
in le Tour.

Let's all just take a deep breath and see how it
goes... Jeff

Tuschinski

I think Lance is the biggest favorite winning the TdF.

BUT.... The excuses groping of his fanboysx stands UGLY considering how they have been badmouthing Jan Ulrich.

It is okay for LA to loose a minute to super TT specialist Oscar babyface Sevilla, yet Jan can not loose a minute to "non-TT" Rich in a flat TT?

Yes... that was sarcasm... if LA's loss isn't saying anything, it is nothing that JU looses in a flat TT of an absolute worldspecialist.

Nuff said fanboys

Even if Armstrong isn't anymore the climber he used to be,
he still doesnt have to worry. There are hardly any
mountains in the Tour. Nothing above the 2000m. Even
Cipollini can win ...

No one mentions peaking? How fast do you want to be 6 weeks
out from the most cirtical days of racing? Lance should
still be training hard and testing his day-to-day recovery.

Different guys will work on different aspects of their
fitness leading up to a peak. They're not comparable to any
great degree until everybody is together at the most
important days of the most important race.

To add to my earlier post...

Now, from someone (else) who knows, CC's recent comments
about Lance being a bit coy about his current abilities
are on the mark. Best to encourage a high amount of
interest in the TOUR.

I'm afraid Iban will be over the top in the decisive last
week of the tour.

I'm sure JU would love that.

That was my Sarcasm... LA looses from a NON TT specialist (agreed, it is mountainous, but it is still a TT), JU looses from a flat TT super-specialist.

My point is that JU was shot down by some, yet LA can't do anything wrong by the same people.... it annoys me.

So you would have been less annoyed by folks comments if it
had been TT specialist Millar who beat Armstrong up the
Ventoux instead of Mayo?

But so is everyone else.... I thought it was good strategy
that LA didn't show his hand in the Dauphine Libere. It was
noted in the L-Chronicles yesterday, that last year by
winning the DL, it took too much out of him. This year LA
wanted to get a good prep in and to see what the otheres
have. So we know now Mayo has a pair of aces and Hamilton a
pair of Kings. I think Ham should have held back a bit in
the DL, as well as his team, their strong showing makes them
a heavy contender in the Tour, Team Phonak looks pretty
strong. -tom

Big deal. LA was misquoted. He isn't peaking for the TdF,
he is 'packing'. Two Colts trumps two aces. Wait for the
great photo shot when Mayo and Hamilton are lined up and
in line...
