I have not read it yet, but I skimmed a portion where Tyler
stated that the conditioning MD at CSC (Luigi Cecchini, who
worked with Riis since his time with Ariostea) completely
reworked his conditioning protocols.

This leaves me to wonder what in the hell Chris Carmichael
was doing for all of the riders other than Lance? I know
Chris has not been educated formally (or has he?) but I
thought he was more than a 1 rider specialist. I have always
heard that the non-elite CTS athletes he directed were
always given training protocols that seemed to be intended
for Lance. Does this include the whole team at USPS? I
thought I remember that CC was doing Tyler's training, and
if so this makes CC look even worse than before. Yes, he is
a real coach and yes, he seems to be in way over his head.
As far as LA cares, CC gets him the info he needs (from real
MDs) but I guess he is not really doing much for anyone
else, Hincapie included (his sprint has left him since he
started his super domestique duties for Lance). Does CC
train them all at USPS for optimal domestique work?

As far as Cecchini goes, I knew he was one of the top
training guys, but are the others that far behind him?
I ask because of how many athletes are having their
best performances while at CSC and it can't be entirely
due to Riis.

OK Cynics, Cecchini knows how to dope better than any of
the others..

Why not? By all reports he's a fantastic motivator.

Well, for starters Tyler is attributing his success (post
USPS) to Cecchini. (I thought that was obvious)

That is very interesting. Riis is Tyler's conduit to
Cecchini still.

Thanks

In the ProCycling feature article there was a nice example
of interaction with Riis where Tyler commented some rider
wasn't riding intelligently yet and Riis agreed, saying
the rider reminded him of another rider who did the same
thing, Tyler.

In the procycling interview (at least in the german version)
they say that (my translation now) the american sends all
the training data stored in his SRM device via e-mail to the
60 year old coach (Luigi Cecchini).

I have no great admiration for Carmichael, but this is a
slender reed on which to hang your conclusions - I always
see Carmichael referred to as "Lance's coach," not "USPS
coach." I don't recall seeing him linked to Hamilton. On
Carmichael's website, the USPS riders listed as his clients
are Armstrong, Hincapie, Zabriskie.

Lance gets plenty of coaching/training advice from someone
other than
CC. CC is one of Lance's advisors and the public perception
that CC is "Lance's coach" is good for business.

This is the correct answer.
