Spikes!

View Full Version : Spikes!

Just got my first ever pair of track spikes yesterday. NB
240, middle distance. I got them in about half a size bigger
than my shoe size, nice fit.

Went for a VO2Max workout in them, four 800's with 800
recovery jogs, nonstop.

Run 800 Jog 800
2:50 4:50
3:08 5:25
4:19 5:16
5:07 4:55

I ran one mile to and from the track (in trainers, of
course), so a nice 6 miles logged all together.

I felt a bit of something at the back of the heel
afterwards, and a little bit more calf muscle stimulation
than usual. Normally I'm not aware that I even have
calves. ;) This is to be expected from the lowered heel, I
suppose. Later in the evening I had a tiny bit of stinging
or tingling in both big toes, and behind the toe in one
foot. Nothing unpleasant. Much, much less than after
barefoot 800's.
