motion control sneakers for flat feet

View Full Version : motion control sneakers for flat feet

Hi all,

I have been suffering with some knee pain for almost two
years now. I also have very flat feet.

I saw a trainer in my gym the other day who said that I am
wearing the wrong type of shoes; I should wear a sneaker
with a medial post (I think that's what he called it), a
sneaker with more stability, to control pronation.

My question is: do flat feet necessarily correlate with
pronation? I don't feel like I excessively pronate,
especially now that I am moving more to a full-foot/mid-foot
strike as opposed to the old heel-strike that I used to use.

And if I indeed need a medial post on my sneaker, would it
be best to go with a motion control sneaker over a stability
sneaker? I'm not looking to get really fast, so the weight
of the shoe isn't a big concern for me.

Is motion control just a more stable version of a stability
shoe, or are there other differences?

Thanks in advance,

Mike
