Man versus Horse - man won

Just in case you had not noted.

For 25th time, The Man versus Horse 35 km (22 mile) cross-
contry race was held in Llanwrtyd Wells, Mid Wales, UK, in
Saturday 12.6. In all previous races, horse had won runners
and bicycle riders participating in the race. But the gap
between fastest horse and man had been narrowed in recent
years, so likelihood of man's victory was higher.

Besides honor, there was some reward offered for such a
feat:

And now, for the first time in the race history, Huw Lobb
of UK won the 2004 race at time 2:05:19. Fastest horse was
at 2:07:36.

My uncle, who has worked with horses, always laughs at
cowboy shows with sprinting horses that appear to run for
miles at full speed. He says horses are very fast, but they
can't keep the speed up over long distances.

This might have something to do with horses having to be
only slightly faster than a saber toothed tiger. ;-)

Now THIS is scary! Look at the second pic down of him running the
race. What the HELL is that black and white thing running behind him?
Isn't that cheating? Who wouldn't break new records with something
like that behind you?
