Man verus Horse
View Full Version : Man verus Horse
First time in the 25-year history of the race that man wins...

This used to be Man vs Bike vs Horse I think...
Interesting...the men's 10K WR, the women' 5K WR and now
this all within a few days...

I read that too, and was desperately trying to imagine a
course on which a man could outrun a horse. Sure, rock
climbing isn't an equine specialty, but it didn't sound (or
look) as though it was all vertical walls.

Pictures from the course.
Note that humans train up quite nicely for distance racing.
Horses can do 40 mph in 2-minute events, but the longer the
event, the more humans are favoured.
Bicycles fit in interestingly: we can't outsprint horses,
but on level ground cyclists can beat horse riders given a
sufficiently long course.

Whoa! Okay, we can outsprint horses. Also interesting is
Cipollini's apparent view that thoroughbred cyclists should
only be conceived under natural cover.
That's a horse racing term,
