were talking about something else.

I think Lance needs 6 then needs to win the Giro five times
and the Vuelta a few times, a la Merckx.

Bartali had a virtual 10, at the very least.

Actually, Hinault was rather unlucky not to win 1980, so he
can claim virtual 7 as well.

Or LeMond could have won 7 if it wasn't for Hinault's
selfishness, or was it Greg's stupidity for not knowing when
badger season was. -tom

Sure! Heck, I'd like to see him just enter the Giro. This
"everything for the Tour" is mind boggling.

Virtual Lance isn't on five yet, he just got some of
those because der Jan couldn't stay of the Bratwursts and
party pills.

I'm thinking Tom meant for Greg to have taken Hinault
hunting with them on the ill-fated day.

Why? Hinault might have suggested they keep hunting...

Lance gets a virtual 7 right now, because he had at least
two years of top form removed along with the other bits of
him that cancer got.
I have a virtual win at the World Tuesday Night
Championships Novice Men's race series,

Coppi has a virtual 5 or 6. But I'm not so sure he could
have beaten Bartali before 1949. That's not just my personal
opinion. Goddet has said that during the war years Bartali
would have been more or less invincible. And according to
Binda Coppi could never have won the Tour of 1948.
