How do I make a jpeg into something I can post here? Like a
pdf maybe....(NNs are sailing).

As to misc.writing, you don't. Text only, please. If
you must show us a picture, put it on a website and
post the URL.
I have no idea what guidelines sci.med.cardiology
has regarding pictures, nor do I know why you'd cross-
post between those two newsgroups.

The usual answer is "you can't." Not because files can't be
modified but that text groups don't welcome binary files
(which pictures are). The antipathy is so strong that many
ISPs filter out all binaries from messages that pass through
their servers, and some ISPs discipline their own users if
they post binaries to non-binary groups.
The recommended method is to post your picture on a web
page and then post a message here to tell readers where
to find it.
It really doesn't matter if a posted picture is a JPG, a
GIF, or what it is (PDF, though, is a file for the Adobe
Reader, so not likely a picture file).

Makes no sense does it? We've come to expect that here in
the Cardiology newsgroup.
Sorry for the crosspost reply, Wendy.
Good luck,

FYI, Acrobat 6 allows you to easily convert a *.jpg file to
a *.pdf file.

You may want to subscribe to Alt.binaries.pictures.misc then
just tell folks where your image is located. Keeping it
small is better then too big I found out.
Bill who is new to this too.

Thanks for clearing that up. That raises another question
that underlies my reasoning in my response to the OP: Are
PDF files text only, or can they be/include graphics? IOW,
is the conversion from a graphic format to a text one,
similar to OCRing, or can PDF handle graphics as well?

A pdf file can contain pages with a mix of text and
graphics, which can be fully searchable, bookmarked and/or
hyperlinked. Acrobat uses it's own OCR engine when scanning
pages containing text and/or graphics.
