This "super HDL" that can clear arteries of plaque was being
developed by Esperion Therapeutics.
Then, in the end of 2003, Pfizer takes over Esperion
Therapeutics, and I can't find anything at all about trials
of this new drug at the Pfizer website.
The old Esperion website, which now automatically links to
the Pfizer website, now says:
"By acquiring Esperion, we can bring our research
capabilities to bear on an emerging new area which has
potentially significant beneficial impact on patients.
Epidemiologic data and drug intervention trials both support
a strong correlation between higher HDL levels and
improvements in morbidity and mortality." Hank McKinnell,
Pfizer Chairman and CEO December 21, 2003
Is it just me, or does it look like Esperion's etc-216 is
in competition with Pfizer's new torcetrapib? http://www.- (http://www.-/)
