The Slone Epidemiology Center at Boston University has developed an
extensive computerized Drug Dictionary for coding drug information
obtained in epidemiologic studies. Epidemiologists at the Slone
Center rely heavily upon this software package in their
pharmacoepidemiological studies of drug safety and drug utilization.
With approximately 25,000 products included and cross-classified on
their ingredients, this resource has simplified the conduct of data
analysis through a standardized and efficient drug coding process.
After many years of internal effort and ongoing quality control, the
Slone Epidemiology Center is making the drug dictionary available to
external investigators.
