going to watch a couple of stages - one the alpe d'huez TT.
would we be better to get up the mountain the night before? what time does the road ususally close? and do they only let you walk or cycle up?
any advice welcome to seasoned tour de francers!

I will be there as well and I have heard that you can bike up to around half way the day of the race before the publicity caravan comes through. I will be riding a blue to silver Independent Fabrication, what about you?
I think with the fallout Mayo is suffering now his odds of winning on Mont Ventoux just went up. If he loses much time tomorrow on the TTT, he won't be thinking much more about GC. He'll be thinking about things he can still win--King of the Mountains, Mont Ventoux time trial, maybe another mountain stage or two. But he won't win the Tour. He'll conserve his energy for these other prestigious, but less rewarding, events.
hey could you guys reply here with how your day went there i have never been to the Tour but i am going next year. I just want to see what to expect, thanks.

They;ll let you cycle up the morning of the race. I recommend you do it, it's a real buzz. You;ll want to go up about 3 hours before the cavelcade though!
