So now Mayo has lost a team mate because of a blood test. This will take more time from him on the TTT. Just makes you wonder what would happen if they tested the entire field at this point....or do they?

They are all tested. Here is a quote from www.velonews.com today.

"Gonzalez was the only rider among the 189 riders from 21 teams registered for the July 3-25 race to raise suspicion. The rest were declared fit to race. "

and another from www.procycling.com

"All of the other 189 riders tested were given the OK to start the Tour on Saturday. "

As far as taking time from the TTT it doesn't matter becuase of the dumb rule this year that limits any team's loss in the TTT to 2.5 minutes.

What sort of rule is that????? I'm not a fan of the TTT anyway, but that is just stupid. What's the point in having one then?

Maybe for ego. Heh heh. There's a thread on this in Tour de France under A new rule for the Tour.

The fact that Mayo cannot replace his lost rider will indeed have an effect on him in the mountains. I wouldn't count Mayo out yet however.

It's a relief that Gonzalez was the only rider ousted before the Tour begins. Let's hope there won't be anymore later.

Like all the other "new" rules, it's designed to defeat Lance. That's my opinion anyway, and I'm stick'n with it.
