hand signal laws in England

Does anyone know of different hand signals you can use while crossing a road in England. Does your arm alway have to be out or can you signal using your arm around your back pointing your finger? What are the hand signal laws in England?

Arm out, hand flat, as big and as deliberate as you can make it. You want it to be seen and understood what you are doing.

This is not really just a matter of obeying the law but staying alive just that little bit longer, if the law allows what you have suggested ( I don't think it does - check the highway code) I still wouldn't do it. Keep your intentions clear if you want others to know what you're about to do, if not then don't signal at all. Good luck.
