[Oxidative stress in a model for experimental diabetic
retinopathy: treatment with antioxidants]

PURPOSE: Diabetic retinopathy is the primary cause of
blindness in developed countries, and though strict glycemic
control is desirable to prevent complications, this is not
always achievable. Thus, adjunctive therapies are needed to
help in preventing or delaying the onset of diabetic
complications. We have studied the biochemical and
functional changes in the retina of diabetic mice, and the
ability of ebselen and lutein, two antioxidants, to reverse
these effects, using as a comparison the effect of insulin
therapy. METHODS: Alloxan injection was used to achieve
hyperglycemia. Malondialdehyde
(MDA) concentration in blood and glutathione peroxidase
(GPx) activity in eye homogenate were measured. Serial
electroretinograms (ERG) were recorded. RESULTS: MDA
concentration in the blood was high in diabetic
animals. GPx activity in eye homogenate decreased in
the diabetic conditions. Maximal electroretinogram
amplitude decreased in diabetic animals with respect
to controls. Ebselen and lutein restored MDA levels,
GPx activity and ERG amplitude, and had no effect on
glycemia. CONCLUSION: These results call for further
studies on ebselen or lutein as adequate adjunctive
therapies for diabetes (Arch Soc Esp Oftalmol 2004;
79: 289-294).

By the way, are you seriously implying that eating meat is
against god or christianity? Have you even read the bible?
You must think you are better than god because animals are
good enough for him. If meat is good enough for god it is
certainly good enough for man, but not you huh? How do those
two insignificant quotes show that eating animals is bad or
that jesus is a vegetarian. Here are some quotes for you.

Genesis chapter 18:

"And the Lord appeared unto him (Abraham) in the plains of
Mamre. . .And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetched a calf
tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted
to dress it...And he took butter, and milk, and the calf
which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood
by them under the tree, and they did eat."

Mmmmm now God knows good eats when he sees it. Butter, milk,
and tender beef yum. Nothing vegetarian about that. Foods we
can all benefit from eating more of. Now I always thought
god had infinite wisdom but maybe you should still inform
him about the dangers of animal foods and saturated just to
make sure. We wouldnt want him dropping dead from heart
disease. I can just imagine a lowly delusional mortal trying
to inform god what to eat and what not to eat.

Mark chapter 7: Quotes from Jesus

"There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him
can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those
are they that defile the man...because it goeth not into his
heart, but into his belly, and goeth out into the draught?

First Timothy Chapter 4: I like this one!!

Romans Chapter 14: This one is good too.

"Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to
doubtful disputations. For one believeth that he may eat all
things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs."

It really is hard to comprehend how full of shit you are.
Claiming that there is a "medical message" in the bible and
it is to not eat meat!!! What are you smoking?? Are you
serious?? Talk about self delusion. Why dont you add those
quotes to your freakin site along with your TWO sorry
quotes. I really can not imagine how you take yourself
