NEUROPATHY PATCH

View Full Version : NEUROPATHY PATCH

Some time ago I reported to this newsgroup a discovery
I had made.

Out of desperation with the Neuropathy pain in my feet I
tried a Lidocaine patch on my foot. It gave me great relief
and allowed me to sleep the whole night through. The patch I
used was Lidoderm 5%.

I reported my experiment to my Neurologist. She then
reported my finding to the manufacturer of the patch.

Here is a report on a study just completed on the use of the
Lidocaine patch on 56 patients.

But you heard about it here first!

And No, I have no connection with the manufacturer or anyone
selling this patch which is available by prescription.

I prefer narcotic intervention as a last resort only.

Unfortunately, pain killers only work on some cases of
neuropathy. Some form of pain killers have been in use for
at least 30 years. The only thing that worked for me was
control of blood sugars. Even that took time. The
pain/burning is the warning of nerve damage. The odds are
that your problems will increase. It may be the sensations
you have means the nerves are not dead yet. If you worked
at it, the problem can be reversed. I was able to do that.
But if I abuse food input and let the blood sugars rise I
will be very uncomfortable. Pain killers only mask the
problem. Guy

Lidocaine is a Local Anesthetic not a Narcotic.

My blood sugars are in control. My pain was not, until I
discovered that a Lidocaine patch made life bearable again.
