Ginger roots
I like to eat raw ginger root, it all ways takes care of my
stomach. If I get upset stomach, headache, no use even to
take half a dozen Advil or Pepto, I shred some ginger root,
mix it with apple sauce, top it with cinnamon powder, makes
a very tasty medication.
Happened three days ago, had a headache all afternoon,
finely at night made some ginger mixture and it was gone in
10 minutes.
I was able to feel the pain going away.
Ginger root for stomach is like Roto-Rooter for pluged
drain.

Yes, ginger is very popular for stomach problems. I use it a
lot in=20 cooking -- chicken dishes and seafood.
How does your BG respond to the applesauce? If it's more
than a little=20 bit, it might be sending your BG up. Just
to let you know.

If you cook ginger, it's not as effective than to use it
raw, at full strenght. Best way is to juice it, but it's
messy, because ginger root is very tough, fiberous root and
the juicer clogs up quick. I'm all ways laughing, as I watch
on TV infomertiols, how easy they juice vegtables, seems the
juicer never clogs up. Nice video editing. I use no sugar
added apple sauce, 1/2 cup/15gr sugar. I only use 2-3 table
spoon of apple sauce, so it adds only 10-15 carb. It's hard
to tell on my BG, because even if I starve all day, my BG
goes up. Only exercise can bring it down, so I'm serious
insulin resistant plus my pancres is screwed up, makes a bad
combination.

I heard this recipe from a Philippine co-worker, how they
prepare ginger tea back in his old-country. Wash the ginger
root well, don't have to clean from the skin. Take a good
size root, place it between a folded paper towel. Use a
kitchen hammer and crush it, just enough to come apart.
Place it in the tea cattle, poor boiling water over it and
let it soak for about 15 minutes. Strain it and you got a
very tasty ginger tea.

Szaki, a little bit of ginger, as you note, can go a long
way. What you haven't realised yet is that for people like
us T2s a little bit of "no sugar added apple sauce" can go
even further when it comes to raising BGs. On the rare
occasions now that I have apple-sauce, it's one teaspoon of
home-made stewed apple and herbs with roast pork. Not 2 -3
tablespoons of a commercial product.
So "it adds only 10-15 carb"? That's twice the carbs I eat
for lunch. Total. I have found that I can eat more carbs
later in the day, but very little earlier. See my comment on
the "Am I type 1" thread.
You need to start fresh when looking at your diet, and you
will have to drop a lot of pre-conceptions. After you see
the doctor about your correct diagnosis and treatment.
Cheers, Alan, T2 d&e, Australia. Remove weight and
carbs to email.

Well, in that case don't eat apple sauce, juice the ginger
root, stores it in the frigidaire for 3-4 days. Take two tea-
spoon of juice, swallowed straight, don't keep it in your
mouth, don't taste good. It can be shredded and add some
splenda or sugar free Apricot preserves. Raw ginger don't
taste very good. Back in 97' I had lot of headaches,
bloating, acid reflux and indigestion problems, some time my
butt-hole bleeds, gain lot of weight. Back than my fasting
BG was close, 140, so there was no suspicion for diabetes.
Doctor gave me Tagament and for 6 months had all kinds of
test, including full body CATSCAN, they could not find any
thing wrong. On the web found this ginger juice cure, first
I was scaptical, but started using it. I started feeling
good immediately, in two - three weeks most of my problems
gone. I still take ginger shredded on top of my salad, also
Traders Joe's or Safeway sells ginger tea. Maybe others too.

But before it was dropped to 126 a few years ago, a fasting
BG of 140 was diagnostic of diabetes if it was repeatable.
Why did your doctor not suspect diabetes with that kind of
fasting number?
Priscilla
Don't know, he was a general practitioner, all he said,
"my BG is a bit higher than normal of 120, I should diet.
We were focusing on my indigestion problem and I didn't
know any thing about diabetes back than. Later, I had to
change doctor, because my insurance plan was changed at
the company.
