He's a fat slob. Neil and Geddy are skinny because AIDS is
eating them up, much like you.

<yawn> Yes idiot, running 9 miles a day will make you fat.

(with apologies to Rush....)
There is unrest in the newsgroup There is trouble with
my IT I think my iliotibial band's tight Oh, what is
wrong with me?
The's also trouble with my nipples After long runs I'm
quite a sight Sometimes all this evil chafing Will keep me
up all night
But I still love the feeling Of a good run every day And I
wonder when my Asics Will ever be...... US-made?
There is trouble with my IT And Jim Fixx has long been dead
Should I just scream, "enough of this!" Or try another long
run instead?
cheers,

Hi Ozzie: long time since we last chatted. i suppose it
might have been when i last suffered from ITBS :)
yes, i was rolling the IT faithfully but the condition still
sprouted up and even got worse. don't think i'd really
attribute it to the rolling, but rather the tightness of
calves and quads, and my old shoes. got new shoes, and have
had some deep massage to loosen up the rest of the legs. the
IT is still touch and go, but nothing serious. i find that
cycling bothers it a bit, too.
i find that just slowing waaaay down and paying attention to
form keep it at bay. i *guess* it'll subside in time.
thanks,
Cam

well done, David. you'd give Neil Peart some competition in
lyric writing. BTW, i am just getting started on Neil's
second book "Ghost Rider", which is excellent so far. read
it? The Masked Rider was quite good, too.
thanks for the "sympathetic" ode :)

I know David's background and precisely why I poked him

I don't believe you. I think you've been grossly rude to
David. He will invoke the spirit of his saintly mother and
challenge you to a duel.
I hope you're more of a man than Anders and turn up for the
thing. Can I be your second?

hehehe... I just got back to this thread now. :-) Actually,
I am on musical hiatus while the race season is underway.
Being an RD takes up way too much time (if you want to put
on quality events, that is).

so the "day job" is on hiatus, too? must be nice to take the
summer off, if that's what you are doing, David. sounds like
you are really gung ho about the RD work. excellent! how
many races have to put on so far?

Yes, I have a business partner and we are both very excited
about bringing a full series of quality races to the area.
All this began as just an idea in my head while on a
training run going up and down the Hamilton Escarpment over
a year ago. It became reality this spring when I took on a
partner and we planned a first race to get our feel wet,
with a goal of a 3 - 5 race series in 2005.
However, we recently decided to purchase the rights to an
existing race (which Bill Rodgers actually ran once about
7-8 years back; I think he won it).
I completely re-designed the course to make what I believe
to be the fastest 5k in Canada, certainly in Ontario. I have
partnered up with The Running Room, and you can register for
this race online at their site:
http://www.events.runningroom.com/site/?raceId=1068&cont-
entId=5889
The other event is not for online registration yet, that
will be in a few days. There's $1800 prize money for that
one, it is a flat fast 5k and an open one mile. The Kenyans
will show up for sure.
Are you going to enter my race? ;-)
cheers,
