Slickish 700x32 tyres?
View Full Version : Slickish 700x32 tyres?
Good moaning,
Any suggestions for a tyre that's something like the Ultra
Gatorskin but available in wider sizes: pref 31 to 32mm
actual width?
Seems to be a gap in the 700c market here. I want something
considerably wider (and a /little/ more puncture resistant)
than a racing tyre, yet without being heavy and sluggish.
I quite like the look of the Panaracer Pasela but I'm not
sure about that thick central ridge when it comes to RR and
cornering traction. I already have one of these to try,
actually, but something better for the front would be nice.

I have no experience of Paselas myself but I know that they
are very popular indeed among the Audax community, which
suggests that they'd be ideal for your needs.

I've used these before (though not at the moment) and never
had a problem with them, quite nice tyres in fact.
Note that the Pasela's are sized on the small side (the
website even gives the actual sizes as well so it's not like
they are pretending) you basically need to use a size up
from what they say they are.

Thanks Chris & Dave. I might be fine on Paselas then... but
still I'm interested to learn of alternatives.

Yes, I already bought a Pasela too narrow (32c) (didn't see
the website!), now have a "35" that actually measures 31mm,
which is what I want to try. Even more confusingly, the tyre
is marked "700x35c (37-622)". Plonkers!
