View Full Version : Where to discuss about track and field?
Hi everybody. I was looking for a newsgroup in which to find
discussions about track and field events, particularly the
pro ones, like Golden League and other Grand Prix meetings.
I found a ng named alt.sport.track-field, but this is
absolutely empty, with only 4 messages in the last few
months, all of spam.
Then I found this ng, but it seems that the partecipants
deal only with long distance running and more at amateur
level than at pro one.
Is this the right place to write about, let's say last pole
valut record, or can you suggest a more appropriate ng?
Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

If you can't find a Usenet newsgroup, try the forums at:
http://www.elitetrack.com (http://www.elitetrack.com/) (more of a training forum) or
www.trackandfieldnews.com/

There are a bunch of message boards about high level track.
If you want to talk about 400 through marathon:
letsrun.com trackandfieldnews.com
If you want to talk about 60 through 400 plus hurdles:
charliefrancis.com atoboldon.com www.sub10.dk
These are all moderated, so trolls need not apply.

rec.sport.olympics will, of course, be active with such
discussions around the Olympics. You can ask if there are
other newsgroups when people start showing up there in a
month or so.

Translation:
If you deviate from the party line, we don't want to know.

Thanks, but in fact what I am more interested in is mainly
field events about track what interest me most is
performances from East Europe women the man track events are
all dominated by Caribbean or African athletes that I cannot
tell one from the other and sure those forums you mentioned,
just by their names, don't seem really what I am looking for
stanislavoljars.com or kostaskederis.com would have been
more appealing names for me ...
www.letsrun.com, but there is a lot of crap on the message
board as well.
