Disc-only rims vs. disc/v rims

Since 2001, over 90,000 cyclist's have joined Cycling Forums to discuss topics from general cycling to equipment, training, racing and travel or vacation destinations (especially in europe during the tour de france). We also feature an great deals in our online store, 100's of articles, classifieds and product reviews.

I have disc-only rims (WTB) on one bike, and disc/v rims
(Bontrager) on another bike. Seemingly, tires mount on more
easily on the disc-only rims than the disc/v rims. Is this
generally the case?

Aren't disc specific rims, uh, shallower? So from where
the spokes join the rim, to the outer edge, is a
shorter distance? Which would mean that the tyres are
easier to mount.

Some are, some aren't. Standards? We don't need no stinking
