[SPOILER] - TdF Stage 6
View Full Version : [SPOILER] - TdF Stage 6
Does anyone know why Cipollini failed to start? He
didn't do too well in the first 5 stages, and punctured
in the 5th, but I haven't read anything about crashes,
injuries or hills.

Mario Cipollini (Domina Vacanze) was also a victim of a
crash, his problems stemming from the fall he had during the
third stage to Wasquehal. There he crashed on his left side
and opened up a cut in his left leg that hadn't healed from
the Giro. It has become infected, he has a light fever and
is in a lot of pain, which was why he was in trouble during
stage 5. Cipollini decided that he didn't want to risk his
condition and has left the race.
Regards! Stephen

He can't stand the constant drizzle?

Thanks. I hadn't been able to find any of that information.
(Mind you, Simonb's drizzle explanation is quite
plausible as well).

What condition? He wasn't exactly scorching the tarmac.

'twas in the sport section of today's Guardian. not that
that means you should have read it, just that there was some
media interest.

Indeed. We already know that he always carries a note from
his Mum wot sez "Please excuse Mario from the race today, as
he is allergic to mountains".
