Hoping to find the right clipless pedals

View Full Version : Hoping to find the right clipless pedals

Lord Nerd On Hi

Several years ago I used clipless pedals on a mountain bike,
can't remember the type though, I was using Nike shoes. I
had to stop using them though because I got tendonitis in my
left knee from them. It seemed that the swivel action to
release just didn't work for my knee. It took years for the
pain to go away so I'm rather hesitant to get some clipless
pedals. Still, being on a recumbent you really need them for
a variety of reasons. Right now I have standard clip pedals,
and while I've gotten pretty good at flipping them up and
catching the clip it is still a pain to use them when you
are in traffic conditions. Also, in using a Rans Rocket the
clips tend to catch the front tire in turns if I'm not
paying attention.

What I'm wondering is if there are any clipless pedals out
there that somehow work without needing a sideways twist
to release?
