I'm curious if there's anyone here that's in the area of St. Clair County, port huron, lexington in the U.S. or in the sarnia area in canada. I often see lots of people on road bikes, but hear little of group rides or racing.
(I know of the Mtn. bike stuff in the area, but I'm really a roadie!)

I'm in Sarnia Ontario and I prefer road biking as well. Send me an email if you ever want to compare notes about places to ride etc.

I'm from Sarnia. Living in Hamilton right now thought. Cycling down by the waterfront in Sarnia is nice, but the roads are a mess and the only hills are the couple of overpasses. Not a real bike friendly town I'd say, although the Sarnia bike shop on Front St. is a Trek dealer. Hamilton is awesome. The Niagara Escarpment is some of the best around. Hills!
Where are you from? US or Canada?

Sarnia Here! I'm just getting back into riding. Bought a new road bike (2004 Trek 2100) recently. I'm looking to get some group rides in. Here's a link to the Bluewater Cycling Club www.bluewatercycling.com (http://www.bluewatercycling.com) There are a couple weekly rides and a longer ride on saturdays.
Are you folks into racing, or just fitness and cruising around?? How old are you all?

I'm originally from Sarnia (but I live in Toronto now). When I'm visiting my folks in that neck of the woods, there are a couple of long rides I really enjoy. It may be flat but the scenery is great, and the roads are quite good once you get out of town.
One route is to ride south out on Vidal St (hold your nose through Chemical Valley), which becomes St Clair Parkway along the river. You can take it right down to Wallaceburg if you want a long ride. Or you could take Petrolia Line inland to visit Petrolia to the east. If you want to return a different route from St Clair Parkway, you can turn east at any decent road and continue inland to Kimball Rd, another decent north-south road.
The other ride I like is really simple - take Lakshore Road east as far as you want to go. I like to ride out to Grand Bend for a good long ride - 150k there and back. Before Grand Bend, you can turn right on Outer Drive to to go north visit Port Franks on Lake Huron which is quite pretty.
I highly recommend the Southwestern Ontario and Sunshine Country map published by Advermap ( http://www.advermap.com/ ). Shows you where all the good roads are. You can pick them up at various bike stores.
