View Full Version : Sppedplay Pedals - Your opinions
I have been using Speedplay Pedals for a while now. I was wondering everyone's opinion of them and whether you would absolutely recommend other pedals over Speedplay. I have never even ridden other pedals so your thoughts would be highly valued. Thanks all :)
i've got Speedplays and love them. much easier on my knees than the Times (with recentering float).

I've used Shimano and now have Speedplay titaniums. Love em along with the float!

I got Speedplay Zeros this season, after many years of riding Look. Took a little getting used to, but I do like the free-float and ease of clip-in. Turns out I don't use the adjustable feature of the Zeros, just run the stops open like any other Speedplay.
The cleats are expensive, holding up fine for me so far; would have worn out a couple of sets of Look cleats by now. Only complaint is that they are very sensitive to sand and dirt. I've found using the "Coffee Shop" covers is essential for walking around at Century rest stops.

I have just ridden my Time Impact mag s once. But I did not notice any
probs with the recentering force you are describing. That force can
be adjust, and so can the "angle of float" and also the q factor.
I must say I found it extremely easy to get on with from the start, time will tell if that impression lasts.

everyone is different and i have bad knees. i was riding the original Time Equipe design too, which didn't have any adjustments. i used them for years too, since they were worlds better than the Look pedals of that time (early 90's).
I started using Speedplay X2s right when they first came out, and I fell in love with them. Just switched to Zeros and I like them even better. Before the X2s, I was using Looks.
