How long do you keep your shoes?

I have friends who get a new pair of shoes every year and it drives me up the wall. Ive had mine going on 5 years and i was wondering how long you guys keep yours if their still in good condition. It seems like everyone wants the newest thing that comes out and it drives me crazy. (my skis are worth more than my car therefore i am)

Recently started back and dug out my probably 20 year old Sidi shoes. Starting to rip apart in a few places but they work and feel fine for now. Maby next year if i really stick with it (40 - 60 miles per week) I will invest $250+ on a new pair of Sidi's.

As long as it can hold the cleats and not get ripped to shreds while I'm hammering on the pedals!:D

I'm about to replace my grey Adidas Eddy Merckx shoes that I bought in 1987!!

They have already died, but because it's winter, my cover booties are holding them together. :D

Indeed! Grey with red bits, and the big velcro flap thingy over the laces. The mesh is still in good condition, but the heels are started to fall to bits.

I actually found some cleats for them at Sid Patterson in Elsternick, not long before the shop closed down.

I know a guy at Carnegie who bought two pairs, and still races with them using clipless pedals, which I don't think they were really designed for.

That's nothin'.....there was an older pair of the black ones (without the flap) at Bicycle Recycle in perfect condition, that sold for $30!!

Nothing beats the pair of diadora footy boots I took the studs off when I was about 14 so they looked like cycling shoes when all my mates were riding in sneakers. I think the sole lasted about 3 rides, but at least I looked like Stephen Roche. :)
