Hi,

I'm in the finishing stages of putting together my first bike from used parts that I have picked up here and there. The idea behind it was to learn more about bikes via assembling my own "around town/commuter cheapo" road bike. So far there has been a lot of trial and error with parts and such, but that is par for the course for a beginner like me.

Now, to the actual question. I picked up a Dura Ace rear derailleur awhile back. Its part number is RD7402. I have a wheel set with DA hubs and a 8 speed cassette. I've read (http://www.cyclingforums.com/showthread.php?t=71331&page=1&pp=15) that DA RD7400 is compatible with the SL-BS77 bar end shifters. Will my DA RD7402 work with the SL-BS77 shifters?

Thanks in advance,

Walter McGinnis

Thanks in advance,

Walter McGinnisThe 9 speed shimano shifters work with your pre 9 speed DA RD to shift a shimano 8 speed cogset perfectly.Use te normal cable mount at the Rd. Doing it on several bikes. Use the 9th position or click for the nonexistant 9th rear cog.
