Hello all,
I am trying to upgrade an old german touring bicycle. My question is this; how do I measure for replacing the bottom bracket? The original bb is Italian threaded, and someone told me that means 70mm. However, the 68mm Isis bb that I have would fit were it not for the right hand Italian threading on the crank side. The left side threads right in. Is there a 68mm Italian thread?
Thanks for response,

milly33If it's italian thread(70mm shell width),you have to use an italian thread BB. An english thread(68mm shell width) won't fit. It will drop right into the larger diameter italian threading in the BB shell. You actually might have French threading in there. Sheldon Brown at www.harriscyclery.com has all the info on BB threading.
