View Full Version : What pads for Kysrium Elites?

Hi everyone,

Ever since upgrading my wheelset to a pair of Kyrisium Elites, the brakes started to make a squealing noise, but only on the back wheel.

I have tried changing the pads, cleaning the rims, toeing in, toeing out. But all the same.

I have been using pads for alloy rims. Should I use ones for ceraminc rims? They don't seem ceramic to me.......

What else could cause the problem? The brake cables are not too worn, they still seem pretty tense, certainly more so than on my girlfriend's bike.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Thank you!

The rims are not ceramic. Regular pads work.
Check if there are metal parts stuck in the pads. The pads have to be toed out in the back (direction of rotation) about 1mm.
Most Shimano brake shoes can not be adjusted in this way, you will have to slightly bend the brakearms.

Also, it could be that the rims got coated with something that is the cause of the squeal - even a very thin film could cause noise. Try cleaning them with a good degreaser and see if that helps.
