hello all, new here to the forum. I am building a road bike with a bianchi frame(from a daytona 2000) and carbon fiber fork. I am setting it up with a single rear chainring(bmx type freewheel on a flip-flop hub) with sew-ups and a surly Singleator to tension the chain. my question is this...I have a campagnolo chorus front crankset(39/53 chainrings, 172.5mm)the freewheel requires the standard(1/8" wide) chain, but I believe the front sprockets are designed for the narrower 3/32" chain. would there be any problems running the 1/8" chain, will I be able to set up the front derailleur to work still and have it as a two speed, and will the singleator have enough adjustment to allow for the different chainrings, or do I need to go with a conventional derailleur or else the pauls tensioner?
one thing I do know, the bike will weigh next to nothing when done and should almost fly. should be alot of fun. :D
thanks all for your assistance, nice to meet you all.
