The new Trek 5000 is pretty slick and a shop has offered to give me a good deal on one. Does anyone own one of these? Is it a nice bike to ride? Do you race on it? Is there anything you don't like about it? Does it feel sluggish and any time? (apart from when you're going crap).

For what it's worth, I have a mixture of Ultegra and Dura Ace but let's ignore components for now... I'm only buying a new Frame and fork.

I'm 6ft... 34inch leg, so I'm probably looking at a 58cm in a Trek as they look given the size of the frame.

I'm 5'10" and ride a 58 cm comfortabley. You will probably want a 59cm but you really should be fit. The 5000 is a pretty good ride, IMO.
