Where are you from, what do you do?
Hi there. I am from Sydney, Australia and have been scouring this site for information. This is my first post (ever..... on any sort of forum). I am about to make the leap from a MTB to a road bike (I am bigger than the average bear :D ) and am busily researching what I need and trying to ensure I get the most "bang for my buck". The site is fantastic, and has provided me with heaps of great pointers on equipment and training.

Welcome Colonel, how about a photo in the "mugshots" thread,
I am bigger than the average bear .
We'll ask Steve nicely if you can post a bigger picture if you can't fit a regular. ;) ;)

Hi again, thanks for the welcome VO2 and Lazy Legs. I am also a bit camera shy, but to give you an idea, 6ft 5in, 120kg, and for those that follow or know of Rugby Union, I make a good second rower (built like a brick sh*t house). I am trying to get more involved in cycling to help me strip down a bit, and suppliment my gym regieme (may not be real smart but I can lift heavy fings). :D

W'come Veeral. Hey even us cyclist can laugh at ourselves, but it's much more fun laughing at other cyclists, especially those from down under (LOL :D ). Remember you have to visit the "Mugshot & Pic. of bike" threads and post there!

hey, I'm a newbie here, only a couple posts old.

Where are you from?

Western Massachusetts, USA. right nearby the northern appalacian mountains.

What do you do?

well, there's the obvious, I mountain bike (casually). The best part about where I live is that you cannot bike anywhere without having to ride up a hill. I perfer biking on dirt trails rather than roads, and it definatly has to be in the woods.

I am a full-time student at a local community college, so my biking now is limited to weekends and holidays. I only have three more weeks left of school for the semester.

ps. Its nice to have people from all over the world on this forum. makes it more interesting. :)

I am new to this forum like a lot of you....female...24y.o.....Civil Estimator by day ( which means i price the construction of civil structures such as bridges, roads and subdivisions)...i am in the middle of my civil engineering degree. I enjoy casual touring mostly however love getting out with the lads on a weekend for a carve through the forests. I come from a motorcross and enduro back ground so the dirt is my first love....however with touring i stick to the road...it is easier on the equipment. I stick mainly to weekend tours however I about to embark on my first longer tour (1100km) from brisbane to sydney. It is only 4.5 weeks away and can't wait. It will be a solo tour, which makes it all the more challenging. :D

Gday ...yet another newbie here ...

Duckwah knows me from another forum and have since discovered we both ride and decided to join up.

Been riding pushies since I was a kid and raced BMX into my late teens. Been off the bike for a long time until recently when I bought a 21" JAMIS Cross Country and am slowly getting back into it. My buddies and I ride up here at the Ourimbah State Forest XC/DH course ....

anyways

Cheers

Hi, I'm a student from Juneau Alaska.
I'll actually be heading to Middlebury College in Vermont this fall, but before that I hope to rip up the local race scene. (more likely: the local race scene will rip me up)
