Got no idea of what level you're racing at or how many people your racing against but: try to get in the top5 just before any climbs, that way if you're struggling a bit there will be support behind you. In the last couple of kilometres stay on the opposite side to the gutter, much easier to get out if someone tries something and the faster ridsers are always coming over the top on this side. Just stay in the middle of the bunch and dont bugger yourself for at least the first half and work out whos good and whos not, then follow them around. Just use your head and you'll be fine. Is this what you were after?
