Who rides a Tommaso road bike?
View Full Version : Who rides a Tommaso road bike?
I've been looking around for a good road bike to start racing with and I came across the Tommaso brand, which I had never heard of before. It's interesting that a brand that makes seemingly very good bikes is seemingly unkown. I visited their website (http://www.tommasobikes.com) and found only one dealer, an online store - www.rscycle.com. I'm just wondering... if their bikes are as good as they seem, then why is it that more people are not buying their bikes?
At the moment I am considering the 2005 Tommaso AS1 road bike for only $799. It seems almost too good to be true. Other bikes with specs like these normally cost twice as much. Plus the bike comes with a lifetime warranty. Is this too good to be true?
Please, if you own this bike or know of someone who does please say something. I'd really like to know before I buy.

Color: Titanium GrayAn old Italian name that was sold and now made in Asia. Usually direct marketed.Decent bang for the buck.If buying on line make sure you know your size. A cheap, poor fitting bike is no deal. How do you think waranty issues will be handled? you will have no local dealer support. Alot of other bikes are being sold direct and when it comes to price you have to consider what you give up to get it.
I own a Tommaso AS2 and am extremely satisfied with it. I did a lot of research before purchasing the bike and have found out some interesting information regarding the compnay. As of right now Randall Scott Cycle Company is the exclusive US distributor of the bikes. Tommaso is making a push now in the US and apparently we can expect them to be in our LBS soon. Unfortunately prices will go up immensely as dealers need to make a profit and a margin. rscycle is able (until dealers start to complain) to offer bikes at almost no margin and sell to the entire US as part of Tommaso's worrd of mouth cmpaign.
Tommaso makes their top of the line bike in Italy. It is full Carbon Fiber with Campy record and mavic wheels, cinellie carbon handlebar etc and costs 10,000. I saw a picture of it and it amazing. Too expensive for my tastes but quite nice. Most copmanies have moved all theor production to Asia so it is nice to see they are keeping the Italian roots. Accrording to rscycle.com this bike will be in the US in 1 month.
I laso found out that Tommaso will ahve a new website which should be up in 1 month to go along with their US push.
I have found these are very high quality bikes and along with how they are being sold at rscycle a LBs can't even come close to competing. In regard to sizing, I spent over :45 minutes on the phone with the rscycle rep and he gave me more attention than any of the local bike shops that turned their nose up at me becae I wanted to spend under 1k.
All in all I highly recommend Tommaso.
